COMELEC RESOLUTION NO. 9578
IN THE MATTER OF AMENDING RESOLUTION 9567 DATED DECEMBER 4, 2012 RE: POLICY TO BE ADOPTED FOR OVERSEAS VOTERS WHO FAILED TO VOTE TWICE FOR THE PURPOSES OF THE MAY 13, 2013 NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTIONS.
Promulgated: December 14, 2012
WHEREAS, on December 4, 2012, the Commission promulgated Resolution No. 9567 prescribing the policy to be adopted for voters who failed to vote twice;
WHEREAS, concerned overseas voters are given until December 21, 2012 to file their manifestation of intent to vote before their names will be deleted from the National Registry of Overseas Absentee Voters (NROAV);
WHEREAS, to ensure that the 238, 557 Overseas Absentee Voters who failed to vote twice are given sufficient time and opportunity to file their manifestation of intent to vote and thereby be able to exercise their right of suffrage in the May 13, 2013 National and Local Elections, there is a need to extend the deadline of filing of the manifestation of intent to vote;
NOW THEREFORE, the Commission En Banc, RESOLVED, as it hereby RESOLVES to extend the period of filing of the manifestation of intent to vote of overseas absentee voters who failed to vote twice from December 21, 2012 to January 11, 2013.
Let the Education and Information Department cause the immediate publication of this Resolution in two newspapers of general circulation.
